These seven songs are journeys rather than standard arrangements of verses and choruses, as James takes a more subtle approach to writing by applying soft piano loops, field recordings and tender vocals. Follow The Dark As If It Were Light marks a change in direction for A Dancing Beggar, focusing on a more personal sound, crafted out of homemade samples, ambient drones and delicate piano melodies, and has been compared to the likes of Sigur Ros and Grouper.

A collection of tracks exploring the raw extrusion of the human condition. Bringing together early works, Detached Metal Voice is characterised by an abstract narrative exploring the anxiety of disconnected elements striving to find connection in a world of digital communication. AT&T voiceovers provide threads of psychological association, rhythmic neo-classical arrangements and noise electronic jazz improvisations provide the backdrop. Many experimental techniques are in place within the creative process of these tracks. Laboratory sinewave oscillators sweep through many of the tracks, tones are produced from simple homemade synthesisers.

There is a homage to voice synthesis including excerpts taken from many of the early laboratory attempts to produce the human voice through the mode of synthesis, including work pioneered by Philip Rubin from the Haskins Laboratories, Tom Baer, and Paul Mermelstein. This synthesizer, known as ASY, was based on vocal tract models developed at Bell Laboratories in the 1960s and 1970s by Paul Mermelstein, Cecil Coker, and colleagues. In tracks such as “Babyman” Autistici illustrates a fascination in hearing machines talking about emotive subjects, emulating emotive tonal changes and yet having no real connection to the subjective emotional experience. Alternatively tracks such as “Whispering Mongo Man” contains a 15 minute interview with John Lennon with all the words spoken by John deleted from the sound file…. Leaving only the intake and exhalation of breath. With the content missing we are left with a sense of emotion contained within the spaces – the working of a man’s body. The tracks encourage the listener to consider the complex question of how meaning, relationships and connections are constructed, communicated and perceived.

box. The FZ-Bulb brings a warm fuzzy glow to your sound ideal for warming up ambient textures or adding
grit to industrial landscapes, beatbox or guitar.


The Audiobulb FZ-Bulb is a Analog Fuzz and Bandpass Filter Combo inside a small (2 3/4"x3 1/4") metal enclosure.
The FZ-Bulb was a cooperation between RuinElectronics and the Audiobulb Label, to be sold on the audiobulb site.
The unit has two knobs (gain and bandpass frequency.), 1/4" ins and outs and a true bypass on/off (bypass)
toggle switch. It runs off of a single 9v battery. The unit follows the typical ruin aesthetic of "looks like it was
found in a World War 2 bunker".

Effacer is the project of John McCaig (aka JDG) a composer from Seattle - USA. John's work demonstrates a keen appreciation of sound as an entity that inhabits space and shapes the experience of that space. His compositions integrate ideas and techniques from ambient and minimal-abstract genres whilst connecting with real world contexts through the use of field recordings. This release marks Effacer's debut full release on audiobulb, following on from his label compilation appearances and his self released Effacer EP. These new works continue to demonstrate his interest in treating sound as a physical event in time, to be constructed and deconstructed like a sculpture.

A difficult album to describe, with its acute experimental nature and minimal style, Claudia's work will not be to everyone's taste. However, make no mistake this is a painstaking expression of feeling by an artist who brings a unique perspective to the genres of musique concrète and microsound. We say....

We’ve Met Before, When We Were… marks Claudia’s beautifully vulnerable debut album. Each track represents a focused study of sound, repetition and space. Acoustic instruments, low voltage electronics, broken cutlery and sewing machines combine across a minimal sequence of tiny variations. As the album progresses the tracks develop to portray an intimate narrative.

Vital Weekly say... "It's not the usual rhythm machines and ambient textures, but sounds culled from daily life, like tooth brushing, tennis balls or sewing machines, along with some real instruments, such as piano and guitar and a bit of computer processing, make this more like an audio diary than a piece of music. Sometimes the 'experiments' are a bit too simple and the sound drops in and out, like there has been some kind of recording mistake, but no doubt this is deliberate. It's all a bit too long free form for me, with not much idea of sense or direction. Just what is the idea behind all of this, other than showing some skill with the microphone and basic computer operation."

Vital Weekly say... "There are differences between the artists, that are sometimes subtle (perhaps even too subtle), but a track like that from Effacer and Another Electronic Musician (that is a great artist name!) - the opening and closing piece - are wide apart. From a mysterious sounding synth and stumbling rhythm to a nice flowing bed of ambient rhythms. Straight forward, in y'r face stomping of Nomad Place to the more complex piano cum melancholy rhythms of Ultre. The rhythm glitch of Build or the Ikeda glitch of Bllix. This is a great guide for would be label owners or festival organizers looking for new talent.

Audiobulb has re-organised the artist page to reflect the label's focus. The page now contains a "Guest" section holding information on artists who have collaborated with audiobulb on a "guest" basis. These artists main body of work is usually released elsewhere. The remaining audiobulb artists are actively working on future release projects and they are represented as before.

With its three year anniversary on the way Audiobulb Records releases the third edition of its exhibition series. Exhibition #3 brings a balanced mix of abstract ambience, glitch and groove electronics mingled with acoustic cuts. An assured compilation featuring label favourites such as Diagram of Suburban Chaos, Marion & Build with Build with the detailed electro-acoustics of Calika, Rodolphe Kuffer and Cedar AV.

Two new signings debut on Exhibition #3, Nomad Palace brings a bass heavy groove into play across a myriad of glitched up acoustics and found sound. Ultre's track is a phenomenal piece of rhythmic programming crafted over a complex piano arrangement played in real time.

>3 nomad palace is nathaniel zabriskie - who is one third of cedar a.v. where he works alongside erik schoster (he can jog) & nicholas sanborn :::: nomad palace illustrates nate's technical prowess with rhythm, eclectic sample sources and sheer groove. nate is an artist who is confident to freely explore a range of sound palettes and allow the music to develop in a refreshingly organic manner.
